Best (affordable) audio interface for electric guitar

Decided to bring my guitar out of the stone age and into my computer. I'm doing some research to see which interface might work best, but would like to hear from some of you who already have this set up.
DAWs - FL11/12 (don't judge) and Cubase Elements 6..

Was looking to use the M-Audio M-Track but see that there have been some issues with getting it to work in FL. I don't need anything too extremely fancy. As mentioned above the interface will only be used for one thing. Mah guitfiddle.

Potential candidates - http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEHRINGER-GUITA ... 1166166582
and

Thanks,
Brandon

If the audio interface will only be used for an electric guitar, the IK Multimedia StealthPlug might be worth consideration.

First thought: Why wouldn't that be a good companion for FL? Now, if you are running an OS where those drivers are outdated, that's another thing completely.

Do you have a budget? Platform? I don't recommend the Behringer because more often than not people complain about the drivers.

The best drivers are RME, that's likely out of your budget. Maybe consider the lower end of Focusrite?

BTW, silaris isn't too far off. That is one way of getting into the arena w/o spending too much cash. Latency is probably not that great, but I'm guessing the drivers are not too bad.

Thanks Silaris. I'm looking into the Stealthplug right now. So far so good! Will be doing more research on it, but seems like a good option so far.

Thanks for your input incubus. What I've seen people complain about so far is the "not enough ASIO output channels available" issue, and it doesn't look as though some of these people got that resolved. Will dig deeper though. Only skimmed through those threads.

Budget is minimal. Don't see myself spending over $125. If you don't recommend the Behringer i'll take your word for it, and steer clear. Some things are cheap for a reason.

Will likely go with the Stealthplug unless something better is mentioned before Friday. Latency isn't much of a worry for me. Just need to get some ideas out of my head and into a template asap.

Thanks again.

Used is fine. There's something strangely comforting about used gear. Anyway, this looks pretty neat. Not sure i need all of those features, but you never know. Thanks for pointing this out.

If you're really just going to be recording guitar, you might want to consider a Fender Mustang 1 amp - I think these go for around $120 new, sound great as a practice amp, and can act as an audio interface. Plus, I think you get a light version of Amplitube Fender software, too. I have had my Mustang for several years and think it's great.

I think i remember hearing about this a while ago, but never looked into it. On the site now and love what i see. This may be something I'll actually buy at some point if not this weekend. Very cool. Thanks!

Mustangs amps now have an Android editor app for tablets and phones,
it's called Remuda, only $10 or so. The Bundled Fuse software
has 12 or 16 amps, (V1 or V2) an array of effects, before/after the amp,
quite a few cabs, even bias/sag in the advanced section,
and a well featured online preset repository.

The Amplitube download has Fender Twin Reverb, SuperSonic,
and Metal 500 amps, covering a wide tone range, and integrate
into the free Amplitube Custom Shop gear, for a nice collection.

There is also a linux app called plug, that does all the important
preset edit/create/save things. And the usb works perfectly in linux,
which has some great effects these days. The headphone/line out
isn't too noisy, so you can use two outputs at once, so a cheap sweet
Lexicon reverb rack, bargain Boss, Korg Zoom Pod gear are easy
to integrate. A used Mustang V head, is a beast, and quite affordable.
Mustang 1 V1 are often $50, and the Mustang sound is good enough that
it fooled tube-amp guys half the time, in double-blind comparison tests
using a Mustang III.
Cheers

I also preamp the Mustang input sometimes, with a tube based effects rack,
and have some great fun.

Man, I gotta get an iPad or an Android or something... Seems like the apps now are 10 x cheaper than the comp software.

Thanks for your input glokraw. Will definitely be getting a Mustang amp this year regardless of whatever interface i buy.

Behringer audio interfaces are very cheap. They start at 30$. But yes, the drivers seem to pose problems to some people, so if you try these interfaces, make sure you can return them if you have issues.

How about a used Rig Kontrol 2? Looks like they go for under $100 on eBay and you can use it as a controller for Guitar Rig if you use that.

Another option to consider is the Zoom G3. I just bought a Zoom MS-70CDR pedal and it's really sweet. The G3 is similar, includes an audio interface but also can work as standalone. Also can be found for around $100.

My "rig control 2" was dodgy at best, fantastic idea, but especially for a modern computer you are likely SOL for drivers (it's pretty old)

NI always has terrific hardware concepts that are crippled by weird drivers/and discontinuation.

That's unfortunate. I have a Rig Kontrol 2 working fine in Win 10 on my desktop and laptop. Maybe you had a faulty unit?

Well, that was a LONG time ago, so.....

Glad to hear it's kicking ass for you! :)
