Studio One just caught my eye. I like the concept of having one window and drag & dropping. Wished I'd known about this DAW earlier but who knows what the future will bring.

Studio One is a manifestation of utter mismanagement, power users will come to this point sooner or later.

But the topic deals with a site called "Studio One expert" and their report on S1v3.2, so let`s have a quick look ...
.... where are reports on both sides, the good, the bad, the missing ?

Where is the round up of "experts" of the good, the bad, the missing ?
Where is the distance and non-alignment of these so called "reports" ?
Could it be those "experts" are nothing but an extended arm of the marketing department ?
Maybe even affiliated ?
Everything you want to know about Studio One 3.2 ? Really ?

My observations:
out of the entire videos on the YT channel I found just one of a mixing engineer
who talks about what he is missing from his perspective.

I commented something like "great to see someone outside the usual marketing blah"
and those "experts" flushed by this comment initiated an article "we do not talk marketing, we look at both sides",
just to fall into marketing patterns again right after.

So, I found my answers to those questions above but I like others to find their own.

All in all, the only thing I regret is that there are no real experts holding up a mirror to developers
for the sake of the software itself ... ars gratia artis or confectio gratia confectionis.

Could someone elaborate on the mishap that seems to be Studio One?

Like I mentioned I just recently stumbled upon it. Since I am drifting more and more to simple singer-songwriting stuff I was contemplating about maybe making a transfer from Sonar (which is way beyond my current needs).

What draws me to it is the simple workflow, drag&drop features for VSTs, one screen, the scratchpad, the new multi-FX chain and last but not least, an iOS controller (which Sonar lacks as a native app).

I read hear the CPU usage is high but with my system it shouldn't be to hefty I feel so what are the real downsides of it?

My system:
Win 10 64x/i7-4790K/Asus Z97-PRO/MSI GTX 960 GAMING 2G/Seasonic M12II Evo 620W/Samsung 850 Pro 256GB/Samsung 850 EVO 250GB/Crucial MX100 512GB/Barracuda STBD2000201 2TB(2x)/Barracuda STBD3000200 3TB/Corsair Vengeance LP CML1600/Noctua NH-C12P/Fractal R5

I swapped (sold) cubase 8 after trying Studio One 3, I much prefer it. I have no issues with CPU use on a PC (issues seem to be with Mac, but I have seen that complaint on multiple DAW platforms other than logic!)

Some people also find issues with anything (I wonder where they find the time to make write music!) but S1 3 is a great daw (SOS review, a magazine I respect, gave it a glowing almost faultless review). I used cubase for a decade (and live, reaper, BITWiG) they are all good, you can make amazing music with any of them, just pick the one that suits your individual workflow and don't be believe anything you read on KVR

I am certainly no power use, one man songwriter with occasional guests...S1 had much better comping and faster workflow for me, plus I love melodyne.

Stop mentioning marketing or the usual Presonus shills will be here to ask in their usual passive aggressive way "Why do people talk about the marketing and not the development, I just don't understand it" hahahaha

I am pretty sure you`ll come across it yourself by the time and I like people to find things at their own.

However, it does not mean Studio One isn`t working for you.
If you have the feeling this is the right daw right now ... perfect.

I could write you a whole page of the features that are missing or haven't been addressed in Studio One, even though they were reported to the devs. But I'm really tired of people who (for example) - after others have shared my opinion that the new GUI is the worst ever released for a DAW - keep telling me how much they like a black GUI with a bright font.

(There are quite a few of them around here, actually.)

Anyway, as I already mentioned in another thread, the so called "Studio One Expert" you mentioned above is miles away from a neutral opinion or position. He's simply an extension of the marketing department of Presonus, and probably receives regular paychecks by them. Whenever he mentions Studio One, everything about this DAW is "brandnew", "stunning", overwhelming", "ground-breaking", "award-winning", etc. I can't even stand to see his face anymore...

Presonus is brilliant when it comes to marketing and hype. When they launched the last version, they made out as if Studio One was the first DAW ever to feature VCA faders, ignoring the fact that ProTools and Samplitude ProX2 have had them for a long time.

As much as I admire good marketing strategies, when it comes to DAWs, I prefer honest understatement. Just my personal point of view...

The whole DAW expert brand is becoming very one sided and as has been said here, a perceived branch of the marketing arm of whatever company it's allied too. I know they have to have communication with the manufacturer , but when obvious flaws are glossed over it does more harm than good to the "expert" brand.

You mean the paying Studio One customers who are getting annoyed that nonsense hype campaigns are more important than having a working product (Go read the mess that is the Presonus forum to see how many trolls there are having issues)
