My cubase 5.1 has a bug when I try to click on a track to open into editor, I have to click the track several times before it will open, also when trying to add a name to a track, have to click on it multiple times. Can I reinstall without losing work I am doing and without losing libraries etc?
Also is there a better DAW for using multiple large sample libraries? I essentially use cubase for creating mock-ups of work that are written for acoustic instruments but I'm using samples to recreate a 'realistic' version of the piece.
Thanks

Cubase is one of the most complete DAWs out there, however, as you know, 5.1 is a VERY old version. I would suggest upgrading your copy to 8.5 for better memory handling.
You can reinstall Cubase without losing anything. As always: Save backups of your work, just in case.

Still concerned about losing libraries and individual settings for each file, so just to make sure I am doing this right, I would uninstall cubase under programs in the control panel, then simply reinstall?
Thanks

Update to 5.5 first, there were many bugs fixed.

8.5 can be installed alongside 5.1, and will be entirely independent of it. So old projects can still be accessed via 5.1, if they don't work in 8.5. Just point 8.5 to your VST folder.
I currently have everything version from 6.0 on my machine...

Possibly. I wanted to give the OP the benefit of the doubt with my earlier post, however, I have my own doubts.TheoM wrote:tehlord wrote:A version of Cubase 5 was the last one to be cracked.
i know that but i didn't want to accuse without any proof. Anyway you can't post at steinberg without being a registered user, so if he posts there, you will owe the man an apology!
