I was wondering if anyone could help me pinpoint the name of this genre in electronic music. It's synth music that is melodic and rarely contains percussion or a beat. Very melodic, can contain arping, it can also be very spacial. Some examples would be Klaus Schulze (which is more ambient), Tangerine Dream, Beaver and Krause...
I haven't found a specific enough name for the genre. I've heard it described as "new age", "electronica", "progressive", and a few other things. Usually I have to wade through unrelated genres and dance music to find songs which match. Does anyone know any better term? I feel there's elements of the genre in my music and it would be nice to know for keyword purposes.
Thanks for your knowledge!

Exactly, this is Berlin School. A confusing genre name, but that's really all that it is. Lots of people are doing this, especially with the resurgent interest in modulars.

You could just have looked up Klaus Schulze in WikiPedia:
1970s
[...]
Throughout the 1970s he followed closely in the footsteps of Tangerine Dream, albeit with far lighter sequencer lines and a more reflective, dreamy sheen, not unlike the ambient music of his contemporary Brian Eno. It is to be noted that some of his lighter albums are appreciated by new-age music fans, despite the fact that Schulze has always denied connections to this genre. By mid-decade, with the release of Timewind and Moondawn, his style transformed from Krautrock to Berlin School.

You mean this one... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_e ... sic_genres haha, I was checking that out too. Thought Berlin School would have been something modern and sample-heavy, especially next to all the 'tronicas and vaporwave
