Cubase Pro 8 - "Show channels with data at cursor" not working?

Hi, running 8.0.30 on windows 7 64bit.

I've tried on the mixer to set "show channels with data at cursor". Steinberg videos indicate this should update as you play. For me it doesn't. It doesn't update - it shows the channels correctly but only after stopping playback and hitting the "show channels...etc" again.

Anyone lese have this?
