I press play but I hear no sound.???

Hi Robert,
please check the audio settings under Settings / Audio, and click on the "Test Audio" button to make sure that audio interface is up and running.
It is possible that the track uses a MIDI instrument (rather than soundfont or VSTi). When MIDI instruments are used, no sound is generated, only MIDI events are sent to the MIDI output port, set under Settings / MIDI. Right click on the track header and choose a soundfont or VSTi preset.
If you load one of the included sample compositions (New Composition - Using...) that uses soundfonts, so you should hear the playback.
