Should I remove my old albums from my bandcamp profile because they suck compared to my new stuff?

Hey, I really only have one album released, and only like 100 ppl seen it. But I got a really nice illustration for it. The problem is, I made this album 3 years ago, and my new stuff sounds so different it's amazing. So I want to release under the same band name, because I like the name I made, but I don't want ppl finding those other songs and thinking all my music sounds like that. Some people even bought the album I think, is it wrong to remove it? Should I just leave it there? Put a note explaining that it's old and to check my newer stuff? Any of you guys ever think like this? lol

Who should decide that for you? Noone will be able to.

You think some people bought the album? Don't you know? If it's selling then I'd say leave it up ... I have stuff on Bandcamp from over 20 years ago. Its nothing like what I make now, but still sells the occasional copy (under a different name to the one I use now). Got $25 just last week. :)

I'd leave it there. It's still part of who you are now - because you're who you are now through who you were then. I listen to an artist's early material to hear where they came from. It doesn't change whether I like what they do now or not. I might like it more or like it less. I would be surprised if having it there stops people buying your current stuff who would have bought it had the old stuff not been there. (Then again, people do do some surprising things...)

its entirely up to you. take it down if you want to.

though...i tend to think if you were confident enough in it to release it...then you might as well keep it up. taking it down doesnt change the fact that you made it...and released it.

imagine if the red hot chili peppers just up and pretended their first album didnt happen...or metallica tried to remove st anger. and do i need to even mention david bowies never let me down? i think not.

no...you made it, you released it...it exists...i say leave it.

Pretty sure he meant that he created the music 20 years ago, then uploaded it to Bandcamp when he opened his account there.

Yep.

Unless someone has a time machine they're not telling us about.

I didn't mean the music has been on BC for 20 years. I meant the music is more than 20 years old.

:P
