Hi. Im new to KVR but not producing. I've never been a member on a forum until now. This has been the only forum I ever considered joining. I finally decided that i wanted to be part of this community. I've been producing for about 5 years under 4 different names. I always want to talk about music and how its made but most people I meet IRL don't. So why not go somewhere people only talk about music and how its made. Right?

There's a lot of good stuff happening at KVR, some of the world's best sound designers and plugin developers hang out here.

But KVR is more about buying plugins and less about music and making music...

Hi Draison.

I think KVR members have a good amount of music knowledge - as well as fish knowledge, cat knowledge etc...
You can get good answers (and not so good answers) to any music question here, which I'm not sure is always the case on other music forums.

KVR is a great place to just read some banter about audio but it's pretty good for finding out about updates etc, the best part of it for me is the fact that you can hear from developers directly here. Also the market place is great, and you should try the OSC, even if it's just once. And networking, I've made some good connections here over time, nice people.

A couple things to watch out for tho..

We have our fair share of crazies around these parts. You'll know them when you see them.

Beware of the marketplace as scams pop up from time to time. As a precaution when doing business, make sure you only accept regular paypal transactions! Do not pay with the paypal gift option!! Also do not accept any other form of payment such as weird russian or ukranian payment systems etc. I personally won't do business online with anyone from countries that have a lot of internet crime. Another warning sign is poor english! This is a english speaking forum, so if the other user looks like they struggle with english i would be wary. Not only because they might be a scammer, but because of communication problems in what you are actually buying.

Some people here are suffering from forms of OCD type "I have to buy them all, and so should you" attitudes. Basically i would suggest you demo lots and rely on your own judgement when choosing new plugins.

I totally understand where this may be coming from, but I'm just curious if someone here was actually burned by scammers using a Russian payment system?

Also it seems that I won't have much luck trying to sell my unused plugins at Marketplace

KVR is a great place for many reasons and one of the reasons is that you can find everything under one roof, so to speak. News, Plugins, Forum, market place, etc. That's why I joined KVR. This is the only forum I joined as well

I got great support here from fellow members when ever I faced some strange issues with my software or hardware. Many of the manufacturers also have support threads here. VORT3X covered some good stuff in his post.

If you want to start a riot in KVR you can simply ask questions about what DAW is the best, or what DAW is the most suitable for X-music, etc. People here will defend their choice of DAW to the bitter end
