I'm mainly mentioning this program as I think even those of you who are great players and musicians could get some great use out of of this due to how it can allow you to play up to 8 different instruments at once. You can route up to four instruments to play each play chords and/or root notes (each at their own octave) on the lower octaves of your keyboard, and up to four instruments on the upper two octaves which are mono and geared towards melodies and bass lines. (Also, the melody part is dynamically harmonised to your chords if you choose)
For example I was just using it to play my Lead A1, Minilogue, Virus, Analog 4 and M1000 all at once from one keyboard. It sounded huge!
I was playing a chord progression on the A1 with the Minilogue playing the chords root but an octave down for some nice analogue low end, then the Virus playing a nicely modulating single note pad on the root an octave above the chord. At the same time, I was playing mono parts on the Analog 4 and M1000 which were stacked at 2 different octaves for a cool lead. Of course stacking parts is a great way to get great big/fat/interesting sounds and this makes it easier than anyway i've ever found.
I also really liked the strum control which you can use to 'humanise' the chords rather than have the boring identical note starts positions you get with most chorders.
It's also highly customisable with useful features you won't find in any other software anything like this as far as I know, plus I love how logically laid out it is. As I said at the beginning, this isn't just aimed at 'beginners' who don't know their music theory. There are modes/elements that even experienced players could put to good use and it's easy to turn all the music theory assistance parts off if you want and just use it for it's great flexible multi-instrument layering and splits.
I just stumbled upon it last week and have been having great fun with it since and can already see what great potential and workflow benefits it will have for me. It's a bargain at only £25 from JJR as well.
