Solved - Sonar: "Unable to register the DLL/OCX..."

Some users may run into trouble with the latest update, seeing numerous errors with the following message:
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3.
This is especially prevalent on Windows 7. The solution is to install Windows Updates. Go into the Windows Control Panel under Windows Updates, and make sure all of your Important updates are installed. After installing your Windows Updates, try re-running the installer. If you are unable to run the installation from the Command Center, you should be able to find the latest SONAR Update installer in C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads, or you can download it directly from your Cakewalk account.

I've spent much of today reading through the numerous threads on the web for this particular installation issue. Many suggestions to un-install and re-install the Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 update and many of us doing this more than once trying to resolve this.

I'm on Win 8.1, all updates installed, MS Visual Studio installed
None of that worked... at least, not exactly...

If others are having the same problem, what I found worked was to completely uninstall the last MS Visual Studio from Programs/Features and then run the Sonar installation without it.
Not only did it install, but it also installed the current MS VStudio automatically with it.

IDK,
I lean more to the idea that Cakewalk wrote something into the last two updates that didn't consider completely what was in this Visual Studio, so that would mean that the installer broke Visual Studio, not the other way around.

What seemed to happen after I uninstalled the Visual Studio, was that Sonar had nothing to conflict with and Windows seeing it needed to be there for Sonar, updated it automatically when called for.
So timing between the two?

I still consider it to be a Cakewalk issue and not a Windows issue.

i tried this solution and on my machine it still doesn't solve the problem. For me it's only the 64bit version that I can't install though...

funny that a company such as Cakewalk still can't put together a properly working installer - if you browse the web for this problem you will notice that it exists for ten years or so already...

I just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and for giggles I tried to install Platinum 64bit once again and of course it was still the same shit... pathetic.
