I upgraded to Adobe Audition 1.5 last week and it's great so far. The one thing I really want to use is the Rewire feature but I'm not too sure how it works. For the longest time, I've wanted to record my VST Instruments in real-time into Adobe Audition. Is this possible with Rewire?
Currently I am using Chainer as my VSTi host and I've tried things such as Virtual Audio Cable (huge waste of money, doesn't even support ASIO) but could never get VSTi's to record in real-time. If there's anyway possible I could record VSTi's in real-time into Audition, please let me know.
Recording VSTi's in Adobe Audition

I bought Audition 1.5 and I've been very displeased with the VST implementation. It is really poor in my opinion and worth using for script processing on some plugins. However I've run in to a lot of issues with it crashing on many plugins, they have a long way to go and I feel like a betatester of the VST capabilities to be honest.
Since I paid 300 bucks Im not about to waste my time reporting all the problems. So far Adobe has been a pain to deal with (They couldn't even tell me where to buy it locally, and I talked to several people in sales at the company).
Sorry if my post is no help so far to your question but I needed to vent when you mention Audition and VST.
I use my Pulsar2 to route sound from/to Audition (interapplication) and this is still lousy as they have no ASIO support and MME brings me poor performance.
Still the best sample trimmer software out there to me... and does a lot more too of course.. But im grumpy at the VST implementation.
As for rewire, this does work in theory if you use FL studio or another program which can be a rewire client and host VSTi's. Due to the MME output and the fact it cannot be a rewire slave (grr) this makes Audition-rewire most uselss to me as I have to crank my latency up absurdly high to avoid crackles.

Im not an expert in those things but im doing it.
I use chainer as vst host, playing guitar with amplitube vst effects and in the same time i open adobe audition and recording only processed sound of my guitar. So I think you can too.
I have cheap SB Live souncard and using kx project drivers so i have about 3ms of latency and for my needs its ok.
Hope it helps
