Blasmephy at KVR i know.. but still..
I'm just starting to really dig the sound of rock'n'roll with the real drums, guitars and other live instruments. I love my synthesizers, but I feel like I want to focus on guitar again..
Instead of hitting "play" i want to actually play if you catch my drift.
Anyone else feel this way?

Guitarist at heart here, maybe that's why I'm digging MIDIGuitar so much (kinda have my synths with my guitar, or visa-versa).
And, I too love my synths, but I gotta have my time with my instrument in my hand or the world just don't seem right.

I listen to all sorts of music and play a variety of instruments (not all of them very well). Synth music is great, but there is something much more tangible and immediate about interacting with an acoustic or electro-acoustic instrument. I particularly enjoy running those types of instruments through complicated effect chains as an alternative to synthesis.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Why do people who know how to play a "real" instrument even start to make synth-based music in the first place? If I played x well, I would probably be on tour with some band or even a studio musician if I were excellent at it.
Anyway, are you talking about hardware synths or plugins/computers?

i enjoy playing with real human beings a lot. It's so much more fun than producing alone infront of a computer. Although I try to combine both worlds: electronic elements and a live band.

This happens sometimes here as well. Before switching to synths I played guitar and listened to metal, some blues, jazz-rock and progressive rock. Sometimes I start listening to so some guitar stuff again, but it usually takes me two or three days to switch back to electronic music.V0RT3X wrote:Blasmephy at KVR i know.. but still..

I don't play guitar anymore (even don't have it now), but sometimes I like improvising with my keyboard playing something classical or blues-influenced - sometimes I even get nice ideas for my psytrance productions this way.

because my condition causes me to isolate and also I enjoy the freedom of being on my own time and terms. The downside is I am not qualified to be everything so my strengths can get lost due to my weaknesses.fluffy_little_something wrote:Why do people who know how to play a "real" instrument even start to make synth-based music in the first place?

My "condition" is not knowing any musicians here, let alone people who share my musical taste
The midi keyboard is very tempting to do everyone on one's own since it is the only controller on which one can play almost anything via samples etc. Everything else is more complicated and also more difficult to learn. The keyboard is like the English language, it's easy to learn and it gets the job done...

Doesn't it largely depend on the kind of music you like, and you're aiming to produce? I know how to play a guitar, or bass guitar too, even drums, yet i want to do synth based music.
