I know this topic has probably been covered to exhaustion, but I'm curious and lazy.
It seems like plugins made with synthedit are looked down upon as inferior. Why? Are they buggy? Does synthedit have lots of limitations that keep someone from creating really cool plugin?
Thanks.

synthedit vsts arn't going to be as good as vsts coded in a programming language such as C++ and Delphi. basically the programmer has more controls over the sound of a synth. vsts such as absynth, cameleon 5000, and Tera, coulden't have been done in synthedit and sound the way they do. i don't think i've ever come across a synthedit synth which sounds warm...they all sound terribly digital to me.
thats the general gist of it anyway.

Try first to build one, then talk !ambe wrote:synthedit vsts arn't going to be as good as vsts coded in a programming language such as C++ and Delphi. basically the programmer has more controls over the sound of a synth. vsts such as absynth, cameleon 5000, and Tera, coulden't have been done in synthedit and sound the way they do. i don't think i've ever come across a synthedit synth which sounds warm...they all sound terribly digital to me.

People who build Synthedit VST's first need to learn too.
They are getting better and better !
Many new modules are available,
so it is totaly wrong to say it cant be done.
With the SKD2 you can always code what you need,
if you can program...
Try the M42, its slowly getting there !

Synthedit is very open and allows you to code you own modules in C/C++.ambe wrote:synthedit vsts arn't going to be as good as vsts coded in a programming language such as C++ and Delphi. basically the programmer has more controls over the sound of a synth.
So if you don't like the existing modules, you can create new warm great sounding ones....
Synthedit does not sound digital or anything, but the modules provided with synthedit sound like this.
I don't thing my 100% synthedit flute pluggin sound digital

I can name the good parts of se, and the bad parts too... But I don't want to make a war, so I just sit back, relax, and shut up

this does not only mean synths, what about FX, or even Midi FX plugins (quite a few now)
