Hi,
I own a M-Audio Fast Track Pro but I have to update my OS to El Capitan to be able to use the new Magic Trackpad 2 from Apple. The problem is that there is no support anymore for the Fast Track Pro which means there is no driver for El Capitan and the FTP doesn’t works on it. This is quite frustrating!
Now I’m looking to buy a new audio interface.
I read a lot on the internet and went to a music store here but it seams the information isn’t the same everywhere!
I use my audio interface mainly to control my studio monitor and my headphone. I rarely record instrument and voices.
First, I would like to know if the music that goes out of the computer to the audio interface then to monitor/headphone will sound better with a better audio interface….? The guy at the store told me that the sound quality of different AI were only with the external instrument that you input in your AI. If it’s the case, for someone like me who rarely record instruments it doesn’t worth the money to buy a good AI!
If this is not the case, does it worth to invest in something like UA Apollo Twin instead of those 2-300$ AI like Presonus Audiobox iOne, Steingberg UR22 mk2, Komplete Audio 6 etc. …?
Thank.

Audio interfaces also have better DA converters than onboard sound. I heard someone once describe it as a veil taken off. So even if you never record, you will still benefit.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

The Apollo Twin is a very good interface if you want to record external signals through the UAD-Apollo plugins. However, the sound of its outputs are not as good as others.

Thanx for the input! The iD4 isn't released yet according to the guy at the store... I finally bought the iD14!

Cool, I'm waiting on the iD4 as I need the monitor mix knob. It's supposed to be imminent, according to a couple of stores here.
Can you post your experience of the headphone amp in the iD14?

I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.
