Samplitude, punching midi?

High Samplitude users.
I'm new to this DAW, and still in trial mode.
When recording MIDI, I found that punching on an already recorded MIDI track doesn't behave as I would like it to.
Magix wants to make MIDI behave exactly like audio. Which means that if notes were held on the already recorded material, either with the sustain pedal or with the keys, punching will instantly stop them. In some situations, you want the opposite. If punching on a pad track, you need the notes to slightly overlap to make your punch sound natural and so, my usual strategy would be to hold my sustain pedal, start the punch and release the sustain when I play the next chord which could be at the beginning of next bar.
Does anyone know if such a behaviour is possible with Samplitude?
Thank you for your help,
Best regards,
JPR

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Hi Hink.
What were you thinking of?
I think I tried everything in transport, but I'm blind, and I use Samplitude with a screenreader which might not see everything.
Please give me more details,
thanks,
JPR

they are not labeled on the transport but according to the help section they are called midi recording modes, normal, overdub, and replace are available on the transport...I wish I could be of more help.

Oh yeah! These ones! Well it doesn't make much difference. I would rather use the normal or replace modes, but the only difference is that "normal" will create an object for each recording, and "replace" will replace the contents of the same objects. But it doesn't change my issue.
I wouldn't use overdubb in this situation.
Thanks Hink.
