Any one else hate this?

I am a big Flstudio fan, but I hate (absolutly detest) the way it handles midi remote control.
Almost any other host out there lets you use your midi keyboard to switch patches, and if you load up a commercial plugin (like pro53) and your keyboard has a template for it, you can start tweaking right away.
Midi learn has almost become a standard feature in most vst instruments, which naturally allows you to take advantage of your controller. Not so in fruity.
And even with the "midi out" and "dashboard" work arounds things get pretty clumsy since those were originally ment to help fruity control outboard gear. And you end up controlling a software synth with a software midi replication. Arrggghhh!!!
Meantime even if you manage to setup things the way you like 'em, so you could fire up fruity and fire up your favorite vsti and tweak, there is no "legite" way to save your remote control preferences.
But of course you can save a huge file with all the instruments you are likely to use (and a few u might not)and their dashboards and midi outs in a template file and start with that every time. Almost like hiring a catering company to make a sandwich.
I have been seriously loosing sleep over this. I have tried posting about this at looptalk since last december and still no memeber of staff has answered me. there are about 20 other posts there about midi remote control on fuity and still nothing official.
Now I am starting to wonder if this is just me and the 20 other guys who have posted similar comments who would like a solution to this, while the other 10000 users are perfectly satisfied with tweaking synths with mice while their controller are left untouched.
Ps. the new feature that lets you remote control the last touched knob is ...how can I say this politely...a "nod" in the right direction, but still leaves alot to be desired.

You can buy him a beer or something...
Seriously - i recently stopped using Frontpage ans shortly thereafter Dreamweaver - because i like Adobe GoLive alot better. But i didn't bother informing the world about it. If you no longer like FL - why not try something else? Try Orion - it needs all the help it can get.

Because I need to vent off mate
Besides I don't hate fruity, I love it but hate the remote control (or lack of) in it.
You know, ever been in one of those love-hate kinda relationships?

Why does Orion need all the help it can get?
I'm just curious what that means exactly..

I trhink you'll find that mirabebe is one of those people who is just a little bit TOO loyal to his software of choice.
The rest of us however are happy to acknowledge faults in software!

I feel the same way. It's one of the things that keep me from using fruity more often.lights wrote:So do any fruity users feel the same way, is what I am ranting about effecting your work flow or have you found a workable compromise?

I'm not a fruity user. Uses Sonar. I can not say I understand your frustration cause I do not have it. Changing presets from your keyboard? I can not imagine any other way. Whenever I load another synth in Sonar I just look around for the preset that comes the colsest to what I want by playing the keys and just pressing the pattern chage button on the keyboard.
There are many VSTs out there that does not accept pattern changes and bank changes which give me a good idea of what you are talking about. That eally frustrates me and I just tend to use those synths so much less beacuase of the pain to reach for the mouse each time to change a pattern.

I'm a FL betatester and I will say that there is some great new MIDI remote stuff coming. FL still has some shortcomings in this regard compared to hosts which support multiple physical MIDI inputs,
but with the new upcoming features I think FL is perhaps soon to be the best for MIDI-remoting VST and VSTI's.
