Routing the audio to external compressors

I just got myself a Alesis CLX-440 2 x stereocompressor and would
like to route my main mix thru it and then back to SX 2.

How do I arrange this the easiest way?

I'm using a E-MU 1802m (8 in/8 out) soundcard.

you are going to have to set up an fx loop. I would say you could route the audio that you want compressed to outs 3 and 4 then to the compressor, then route that back to a free pair of inputs which would be routed to your mains

just set up a new output buss and you can use one fader for your stereo send.
