Which are the "most" normal looking DAWs?

Not sure I get why for example Tracktion always seems to be listed in reviews that "the GUI might not be for everybody".
So what defines a "normal" looking DAW, and which are they?
I am thinking that Cubase, Sonar, Logic, ProTools has got the "normal" DAW look, but I could be wrong

My DAW looks normal. At other times she feels she doesn't, but I tell her she does. I really love my DAW.

I don't like traditional DAW's (which is why I like Tracktion too); rather than list which DAW's are normal, I would instead suggest which aren't normal. Like this one:

Shame the dev abandoned it; looked pretty cool. Guess we all have to pay the bills somehow.

Well, in that case I would nominate FL Studio and Renoise
FL Studio comes across as a drum machine, while Renoise is like Matrix, numbers flowing down the screen

The reason why Tracktion's gui isn't for everybody isn't really how it looks, it's that Tracktion does not have a horizontal mixer option, and it's hard for some to adjust to mixing vertically.

Pro Tools has always struck me as being the most "normal" looking - sorta generic, but in a good way, that feels familiar to anyone coming from a hardware background.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

What is this? It's futuristic, but like in a direct-to-DVD-early-2000s-kinda way. Or something.mcnelson wrote:I don't like traditional DAW's (which is why I like Tracktion too); rather than list which DAW's are normal, I would instead suggest which aren't normal. Like this one:

I prefer track based vertical mixing - I find the old style mixer pretty uselessShawnG wrote:The reason why Tracktion's gui isn't for everybody isn't really how it looks, it's that Tracktion does not have a horizontal mixer option, and it's hard for some to adjust to mixing vertically.

But why is it more "normal/familair" to have a mixer horizontal instead of vertically?ShawnG wrote:The reason why Tracktion's gui isn't for everybody isn't really how it looks, it's that Tracktion does not have a horizontal mixer option, and it's hard for some to adjust to mixing vertically.
That is kind of the whole point of the OP, what kind of DAWs has made a mixer horizontally "normal"
