ilok makes me sad again

I was so excited for music making this weekend. Just installed my newly purchased Air Instrument bundle and was ready to go...
But now all of my UVI products have been deactivated and lost on a grayed out machine in the ilok license manager and a new machine has been created of the same computer with only my Air licenses intact.
I am so sad...

Thats why i use iLok only with dongle.

WTF? WT actual F? I thought they fixed it already. This problem was widely reported at the time when Zynaptic Adaptiverb was released. It caused a lot of grief back then. Check out the Adaptiverb thread, you might find some help there how to remedy this.SAW75 wrote:I was so excited for music making this weekend. I saw that and tried the solution mentioned there, also an uninstall/reinstall of the ilok manager. No go. After installing the Air products, the ilok manager made a completely new machine out of the same computer. I'm afraid to make any more changes until getting some support, but from who? and when?robotmonkey wrote:WTF? WT actual F? I thought they fixed it already. depressing.
i'm done buying anymore plug ins that use iLok. the few i have are working and i'm not going to go mess with it. it's just not worth the downtime and frustration.
seems every new plug in is an unknown variable that might take the thing down.

I really like my two Air plugins, but whenever I hear such stories, I get a bit worried.

Never had any problems with this fortunately.
I love how easy it is to move licences between the soft PACE iLok manager and the "hard" iLok
I was setting up a new PC, and I didn't want to bother about setting up the soft licences, so I just transferred my licences to the "hard" iLok via the other machine, and just plugging in the iLok on the new machine of course worked perfect.

As said with iLok only with a dongle you are on the safe side. Not a single issue since years for me.Numanoid wrote:Never had any problems with this fortunately.

Sorry, but as you have found out, this is not the same problemSAW75 wrote:I saw that and tried the solution mentioned there, also an uninstall/reinstall of the ilok manager. No go. on the safe side until you travel with it in your laptop and break it off.. or lose it or it gets stolen etc.murnau wrote:As said with iLok only with a dongle you are on the safe side. Not a single issue since years for me.Numanoid wrote:Never had any problems with this fortunately.

dongle is great if it's just sitting there at home in a USB hub attached to a desktop that never moves.
2 installs, software copy protection via HD or CR or whatever is what works best for many people. Dongle works well for many other people..
why can't we get a iLok that can do both?

If I lose the iLok, I will have to remove the licences from the soft PACE manager on one machine to be able to use it on another.
So it is doable
But I have yet to lose the hard iLok

Maybe you should have deactivated your UVI licenses before installing the AIR stuff. Since AIR plugins contain iLok, I assume they install iLok automatically, which might replace your existing copy of iLok. Just a guess...SAW75 wrote:I was so excited for music making this weekend. I liked the old Waves system, where one could simply park licenses on the Waves cloud while reinstalling, setting up a new computer etc.
