I'm having a lot of fun with these two little boxes:

Just interested in whether others enjoy hardware effects? Guitar pedals? Rack units? Modular? or if you're keeping it all in the box?
Answers on a postcard please...

I have a few older rack units and pedals knocking about. They don't get as much use as they should. I'm not playing guitar so much these days. The Vestax Dig-1 still sounds great on the analog synths.

Yeah, I've heard good things about the Kurzweil units. Do you favour one over the other? Do you get much use out of the verb in the Rumour? I think you can get some pretty fantastic deals on rack units at the moment.. I picked up a Lexicon MPX1 and a TC Fireworx for a combined price that was less than one Eventide or Strymon pedal!lamouette/rck wrote:I absolutly love my Kurzweil Rumour/Mangler, i use them everytime !

You should check out the OTO offerings.. They're pretty fantastic imo..

I had a lexicon reverb one and bought an Eventide H9 Max earlier in the year. It was a bit fiddly to use without the iPad app though so I didn't keep it.
I have my eye on some Strymon pedals right now (Timeline and Big Sky)

Yep, I love using hardware FX. I have a Lexicon reverb and an Electrix Filter Factory. My Eurorack modular started as two rows of FX (filters, various types of distortion, echo, and such), but has since grown to an instrument in its own right.
Recently picked up Endangered Audio Research's "Gristleizer". That thing is just crazy as an FX module and I've been mutilating all kinds of sound sources with it.

They offer a more limited pedal version too, for those of you using pedals.

I was eyeing those two as well but went with the OTO's instead for that old skool mojotehlord wrote:I had a lexicon reverb one and bought an Eventide H9 Max earlier in the year. It was a bit fiddly to use without the iPad app though so I didn't keep it.

What does that thing actually do? Is it a waveshaper? A filter? Looks intriguing..RichieWitch wrote:Yep, I love using hardware FX. I have a Lexicon reverb and an Electrix Filter Factory. It's a really strange combination of voltage-controlled amplifier and voltage-controlled filter, with built-in distortion and modulation. Anything I've put into it sounds completely different when it comes out, with lots of movement and character.sazb30 wrote:What does that thing actually do? Is it a waveshaper? A filter? Yes, lots. Stomp boxes, rack effects and modular. All of the above.
I love cheap stomp boxes...
Here is one pile:

I think I have 4 of those Realistic reverbs in total. Also Boss RPS-10, RSD-10 and SE-50.
I got these from a friend who had worked at Line6:

All of the docks have stereo I/O and they handle line level signals, so they are great for synths.
In the rack have an API 2500, UBK Fatso, TC Fireworx and M-One XL, modded Alesis 3630, modded DBX 166XL, Roland SDE-2500 and Fostex 3180 spring reverb. I love the Fireworx and the API the most. The Fostex reverb is almost always hooked up to my modular.
In the modular, I use Make Noise Echophone and Erb-Verb, Mutable Instruments Clouds x2, Harvestman Tyme Safari... really, most modules can be used as effects.
I frequently use my Elektron boxes as multi-effects, particularly the Octatrack.
