Ah, ok. Here's how loop sync works. It's like an automatic beat calculator. But, it is not a BPM detector. It has to know the BPM somehow. With the included ST Loops that BPM information is embedded within the keywords. So, if you import new loops you simply have to add what the BPM is into the Keywords and save it back as a preset (the save button right near the keywords on the right side of the module). So, if it is 120 then type in: BPM,120 into the keyword box after you've loaded that imported sound and then save that back and name it similar to the original sound you imported, perhaps even with the BPM120 at the end or something. You can usually get the BPM info from the documentation of your Akai CD ROM or Audio CD library.

Hopefully it's the accurate information because if it isn't it work work right (and you'd have to use other methods to obtain the correct BPM info such as playing the loop and looping it in a sequencer until it's right and then writing down what that tempo is... much more tedious and not always accurate. Other more accurate ways to find out the BPM on your own is to use Wavelab, SoundForge or Peak (wave editors) or perhaps there are some shareware type apps that do it easily. That's in a worste case scenario. If it's a quality product then the correct BPM should be included in the docs for you. Once you set it in ST2 for that loop you never have to set it again.

I was going to come back (after reading the manual) and suggest that it needed the bpm info..then I thought, no, that's too simple.
