Collab is a collaborative environment with public/private chat and open/closed groups for building tracks.

The Looptalk chatroom that everyone is automatically a member of - is logged for historical purposes.

Check it out.

I guess it's OK - but everyone who collaborates needs to have the same plugins, and as yet there is no audio/sample upload support.

For instance, if I am using DR-008 (and say, several of my kits in there) and a sampled somrthing of this and that, you also have to have these.

So, so far it's a bit limited - but at least you can collaborate using the basic fruity plugs.

That's always the case though. If you want to collaborate with someone, of course you both have to own the same plugins used in the piece. That's not a limitation of the FL collab :) It's like that no matter how you collab.. unless you're both physically in the same room using just one computer..

Not to argue - but I have done several collabs in here with everyone upping audio tracks to each other - in fact I prefer it that way, but then again I have a highbandwidth link.

I think it's a great idea - in fact, if someone uses Sytrus on a collab song, and I don't have it, my Sytrus demo will work in playback for me to hear the track they wrote, but for people (like me) who use a lot of sample-based stuff, the need for audio upping is essential to be more than basically productive..

The admin says that FL Studio 5 will have audio - this is cool. :)

Brilliant marketing though (if your listening Jean-Marie)

*in fact - let me add that it appears Collab could do audio-ups already, but not with FLS 4.5 - we have to wait until v5 is released...

hmmmmm

I didn't know that audio clips don't zip up in the collab project.. I'll check this out.. are you also saying that samples don't zip up, and that one can only use synths or the stock samples that came with FL? I guess I need to collab more to find out.. I only added stuff on one collab song and I think I just used FL synths...

Collab doesn't support zipped loops yet, but thats only because it was modified to work for FL4 which doesn't have the required functionality.

Once FL5 is released - Collab will support zipped loops.

Yeah - this is what the Collab admin just told me - about an hour ago. (see my edit above).

It will be cool when it does support it - for sure.
