sorry if this sounds basic but I would like to ask if you can tell me how I convert my VST files into wav files so that they can be used in a computer prog / game.
Thank you for your time and again sorry if this is very basic knowledge.

Mate this isn't even knowledge at all.MonstaDog wrote:Thank you for your time and again sorry if this is very basic knowledge.
Ask yourself: What do you need a wav for?
VST's are programs (sort of, they cannot run by themselves) that create or modify digital audio. Like synths, effects and shit.
Wavs are just digital sound recordings in form of a computer file.
The two are connected, but with much more inbetween than you think.
I dunno, I think someone should post some 101 links. I don't know any.

i am using Cubase VST 32 version 5.1 (me thinks).
What i need to know is how can I place my music...created in Cubase into a game folder...and hear it work.
The existing folder uses wav files.
Thought there may have been a way to take song created in Cubase and make them into wavs so they play as part of a game mod.
Please be aware (if not already evident) that I am not computer literate to a great degree.
Any ideas?

I don't use Cubase. Was the manual any help? There are usually chapters on how to export audio files.MonstaDog wrote:i am using Cubase VST 32 version 5.1 (me thinks).

I am trying to help you out too.
Okay you want to put wav samples in a game folder, so you can listen to the wav's while playing 'x' game?
Where is cubase coming into play then? We need more info.

You need to mixdown to a file, that's an option in Cubase's file menu. Choose 2 channel interleaved 44.1kHz PCM .wav in the save dialog. This will render your music to .wav.MonstaDog wrote:i am using Cubase VST 32 version 5.1 (me thinks).

Now you got to figure out for your self how to make that computer game recognize your wav (you obviously need to copy it to the directory with other wav music, but it also might require editing some config files & stuff).

peejunk-
The triggering of the wav file is already sorted.
Will try what you suggested thanks...will more than likely be back with some other simple questions but jopefully you or another adult can help.
Torhan-
If you have nothing worth saying then dont bother saying a word...smart arse.

Worked and was after all very simple.
However seems quite a large file (tried a short piece first of about 20 seconds using maybe 4 instruments).
Any tips for making these smaller? or is the size just due to the file type (wav)?

Has anyone else noticed the inverse relationship between 'simple questions' & illegal software useage?
