Just got an email from Symbolic Sound, makers of Kyma and in it is a link to a UCLA site that say's
it's possible to 'touch' a cell with a nano probe, measuring oscillations in the cell membrane without destroying the cell. UCLA researcher James Gimzewski and his graduate student Andrew Pelling tried amplifying and listening to these oscillations through speakers and were astonished to discover that healthy yeast cells vibrate at audio rates (and that unhealthy cells split into inharmonic clusters of frequencies).

Besides the harmonic qualities of the cells there is a theme song near the end of the video that was made with Kyma for the TV series (I think :? ) called Narc.
Warning, could be very boring to some as the video is 13min in length but I find this shit facinates me.

So do the unhealthy cells alias though? ;)

On a more serious note, that is pretty cool. Obviously the noise they make is too low in volume to hear above the blood swimming in our own ears, I imagine... You think it could be captured with 32 bit with its low noise floor?
