i'm looking for a few cheesy "voice over" type samples that you get in 50/60/70's sci fi and horror films (you know the type)

apart from the obvious (sample from the vid/dvd - my vid/dvd collection is a little too mainstream) is there any website out there that have these sort of samples, or alternatively can someone maybe do their own (i'm a yorkshire/lancashire mongrel so i really cant do the "voice") and le me use it in a song.

any subject, any film.... it's the sound i'm looking for not the lyrics

got to go now, spinal taps starting...

If memory serves me, I think the first Methods of Mayhem sample CD had some sci-fi feature film dialog snippets on it. If I can find it I could give you some specific quotes.

I have got quite an embarrasing huge collection of Hammrer horror flicks on dvd...bought it to sample hilarious images (not because of d all ercotic overtones...no way...), but there is some awfully great dialogue in there as well. I just don't have a good dvd audio ripper to sample the audio...

I have also got the Steve Coogan Hammer spoof series...which is AWSOME !!! the dialogue is even cooler when they are taking the piss...

if you can point me to a good and free dvd audio ripper I may post some samples...
<Rapture> Tsk, it's [new processors] as bad as penis comparisons, really.
<rejs> but penises don't double in performance every 18 months...

Funny this should come up. One of my "in development" songs includes a whole bunch of cheesy scifi/horror dialogue samples. Where did I get them? I thought up the dialogue myself, and had every person who works in my office donate their voice for a sample. Fortunately, there are three professional voice-talent actors who we deal with, and they each gave me a sample as well, which really helps to sell the song.

Sure, I could have just stolen dialogue from old movies, but I thought it would be a refreshing change to keep things honest and create something original...

The only stolen part of the song is a snippet from a Barry White song, and for that I recorded all the parts myself in Reason, used my own orchestration with the Orkester sound bank, and sang my own vocals through a pitch shifter. So technically that part is more of a "cover" rather than a "sample".
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.
