So i've been testing the new capsules lately and they are bang on! The guys at SR have out done themselves once again. Each library has a lot of detail to it. For these prices, the capsules are basically being handed to you.

I'm going to try to do some demos for everyone this week, sorry if you've been itching to hear this stuff.

Post

As I am writing this morning I just heard a bird whistle a jazz lick. I swear. It was doing it's whole routine of typical bird sounds and then just went into this little bendy vibrato lick... sounded like a person but it wasn't.

Sorry for going off topic. So, you're digging the capsules Tunes? Mr. Tunes and a few others have been beta testing them recently. All 6 have been done for a little while now but we've been tweaking little things in the UFO so it comes over as smoothly as possible working in all of the formats. It's a lot of work and a lot of testing because each build of the UFO we have to output it to all of the formats (ST2, HALion, Battery, Kontakt, NNXT, EXS) and make sure it came over okay. [anyone who owns all of those samplers and likes to test should contact us... or kontakt us].

They should be in people's hands very soon. This week we're putting together demos. Tunes, if you do some individual riff demos then name the mp3 the name of the patch and we may add it in with ours for www.esoundz.com I think it would be if people heard the Sonik Capsules so they could see how special they are.

Technically for all of the hours and material put into them we're not charging the correct price relative to other products. But, we're stuck in a tough spot where we don't want to take anything off of them (especially since we worked so hard to have it) and we don't want to raise the price either because a uniform $99 across the series is just so EASY. So, hopefully that will be balanced by more people getting it. The future of capsule development does depend on it selling more than our single format libraries otherwise from a business standpoint it doesn't make sense (since it takes 5X the amount of work as a single format library). I guess we'll see. Luckily, because of the UFO's unique ability to output and expand to SampleTank 2 format (with child presets as well) these single disc libraries that can install as 1-2 gig SampleTank 2 libraries are probably still going to be mostly appreciated by SampleTank 2 and 2 LE users (Capsules all come with ST2 LE). But, I hope that EXS, HALion, Battery and Kontakt users appreciate them too otherwise we might as well just make ST2 libraries and Reason Refills. I personally use and love all of the samplers the UFO supports so I have to think that many others do too. We'll see I guess. We won't really know until it's in the stores I bet. That will be some time this Summer.

There's two that definitely intrigue me .. the eclectic drums and the electric guitars :)

Post

Those two are very good. The electric guitar capsule has some cool patches specifically for SampleTank 2's built-in amp sim which is an exra bonus. Oh, speaking of bonuses there are also another 50+ multieffects patches (different from the current ones we're giving away on www.esoundz.com ).

I am curious to see what people think of the Acoustic Guitar Capsule. I have a feeling that most people don't have acoustic guitar samples that sound like this. It's VERY expressive. I love playing this and the Studio Drums Capsule the most. But, each one packs in value. The Bass capsule itself is like a dedicated Bass module with finger, pick, mutes, slides, ghost taps, pulls, slaps etc. There are a couple of Upright basses and Fretless basses on there in particular that are some of my favorites.

I am also curious to hear what some people's tunes sound like with these capsules involved... like Tunes's tunes for example. I have a feeling you could create a very realistic track with the guitar, bass and drums capsules. Of course that is a taste of what you'll be able to do (along those lines and more)with the Studiophonik module. This stuff is great for songwriting. I am not much of a drummer or guitar player myself so having realistic emulations playable from the keyboard is very inspiring whether you keep the track or replace it later with a guitarist of drummer (although you may be surprised how much it can pass for the real deal).
