I'm really happy to announce that it is playing nicely and is available (starting as VST for 32/64 Win systems, VST/AU for Mac 32/64 bit, AAX coming).

MotorTown is the first kit in our new "Natural Drumsets" line.

It is a virtual drumset, sampled through Earthworks microphones, which are great for their extremely neutral response, and enriched by a Microphone modeling section, EQs, Compressors, Master effects, Rooms, Drummer's performance parameters.

What's really special is how "Grooves" are written down.
An on-board sequencer uses "Words" to define the performance.
Fast and powerful. Macro Performance parameters let us fine tune the Groove without struggling with notes. Parameters include Swing, Strength, Timing and more.

An extra "Tambourine" track is included for a Motown sound.

Microphone bleeding is adjustable, from complete separation to high cross-talking.

A stereo couple of inputs is available, to put external instruments in the same space if needed.

Several couples of additional outputs are available for external processing.

An ever-growing library of Grooves is abailable to users. You can also try to ask for a part to be written down and added to the library.

Available now with a MSRP 39.99$ on www.sknoteaudio.com

Here I have some fun replacing the drummer with MotorTown in a song by our friends Doppio Corpo :D

We are looking for bands/composers for demos.

Send your audio tracks (stereo everything_but_drums and drums is fine), get the drums re-programmed, get the drums section and the plugin.

Send an email to Mirko@sknoteaudio.com if interested.

Ha, the groove lib contains reggae grooves...

Must hug quintosardo.

Ha! :D

We are double checking the Grooves, you'll find a lot more of them in the repository tomorrow.

Don't stick to how the Grooves are programmed, play with performance parameters and variations track to fine tune them ;)

---

Tip: play with all the available microphones _before_ touching EQs.

Tip #2: that Decay knob is a bomb. Rotate it CCW to make the overall sound dryer (it is not on the master, it acts on all single instruments) if you want to use Rooms.

Man, Quinto, I'm a long-term big time supporter of sknote, but this time I'm really pissed. I'm making music as a hobby and am not rich enough to be able to just blow $40 in the wind.

So what happened? First test, downloaded everything according to instructions, set up the MotorTown_Data.ini with the right paths. Quite cumbersome installation.

Then the plugin is scanned by Reaper 64bit (Win 7) and Reaper sais the dll executed an illegal operation. Then the plugin is not found and rescanning doesn't work either. Even moving the plugin out of VST folder and putting it back didn't help, I had to go to the reaper VSTPlugin ini and delete the line for the plugin settings file manually.

After that, the plugin ran but only with 'hiccups', regularly skipping a beat. How's that possible? BPM set to 120, project BPM also set to 120, 4/4 bars.

Then I saved the test project with only Motortown plugin on one track, and now Reaper crashes everytime I try to load the test project.

Also, it doesn't recognize external midi data, so I cannot use the drumset to play GM midi files? Is that really true?

I hope you can fix these issues, but since I've seen you using Reaper yourself, I wonder how you could overlook them in the first place? Is there no quality control?

Well, a bit tragic description of a hard situation? Don't you think we've been using it for months programming Grooves?

Let's check the install, is the world collapsing? :)
"Blow money"? Don't you think it should work?

Please use email quintosardo at yahoo dot it so we can check what is happening there.

Don't panic! :tu:

I've had my problems with Mr. Q in the past and probably will in the future but his stuff sounds pretty good (8* oversampling in a lot of cases) and he eventually gets it fixed. He is just an overly busy guy. You may just have to wait a while. You know it's fair price in the end.

Well, email is the right channel (quintosardo at yahoo dot it), otherwise all forums would be just a mess of mixed assistance! :)

Same here. Installed MT without problems. Didn't care about the ini-editing. If you read carefully - actually it's not rocket-science written in there - one should not encounter problems.

Disclaimer: Okay, I'm running a warez free machine... (no pun intended, it's just an observation I've made through the years).

Post

Elassi, my machine is also warez free and I have a hard time believing it works for you with the same setup. It crashes Reaper completely and failed on the first plugin scan, too, and I have no problem with tons of other plugins at all, including many sknote plugins. Quinto, I'll contact you by email tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that.

If you really don't believe it, I'd upload a vid of MT running in (latest) Reaper. But... I'm sure you trust me. ;)

Heck, I had a truly "creative moment" today when using MT. Made a simple but enjoyable reggae tune... surprise!

Hope your problems will be sorted soon. Honestly. :)

Post

Of course I believe you, I just wonder what's the difference between our setups. But I'll take this off the forum as quinto has suggested, no problem.

Post

I had similar problems in Reaper. I ran the Clear Cache/Re-Scan in the prefs and its run fine since then.
