just curious, if you stop using shorcircuit sampler wich sampler you end up with? i went form shortcircuit v1 to shorcircuit v2, its the one i use, even if it stop being developed, i think i already tried all the alternatives out there but .. can´t let go shorcircuit, pitty v2 didn´t reach a little little more "life time".
Remember reading a post about a opensource kontakt alternative not so long ago here, do you know the name of it, can´t find it

So far I have yet to find a replacement :(

TX16Wx is just not the same, and Kontakt is far too bloated

HISE - http://www.kvraudio.com/product/hise--- ... ts/details :)

Have you checked out Bitwig Studio? IIRC one of the devs used to work on Shortcircuit. No idea if any SC features made it in.

Perhaps you were thinking of TX16WX?
Also new Sonic Arts Nuance is worth checking out but isn't free.

Honestly for "Kontakt alternative without spending extra $$$" I go with whatever's built in to the DAW I use (Ableton, Logic, Reason). Also you may own a "drum sampler" that'll do just as well with melodic material, like Geist or Battery.

What the pros of Shortcircuit apart from the price?

Oh yeah... that serious Kontakt alternative... never read anything about it anymore either since the thread was active for a couple of days.

dificult to say, for me its more "immediate" tool , "easy" , with a comfortable number of options to sample mangling, all this its subjective since we end up using a sampler for diferent reasons

Old school sampler ez-ness I guess

So quick and easy to load up wav files.

Load a folder and wav files will be mapped from C1 to ... in a flash.

Easy to quickly assign a wav file to the whole keyboard, and also stacking several wav samples in that way, to build monster pads fast.

Easy to quickly assign start and end points to a sample, or if to be played in reverse, looped, with effects, or any bells or whistle a user may desire

It better be as it costs $60

Also TAL got it's own sampler format, which is a downer

I haven't tried Bitwig, apart from the 8-track version, but, i'd be damned if there isn't some stuff from Shortcircuit in it, AFAIK, the developer of it is the head developer of Bitwig. The synth in Bitwig has some Surge DNA in it too, as far as i read.
