I gave it a short test run, and it's pretty awesome tbh, like a distraction-free mode in a text editor but for MIDI composing. Some very nice touches and ideas, and even if it's still a WIP, I'll very likely be using it.

This is definitely a fun way to start something. If you haven't tried it you should because it's clear that the music in the videos above are a product of the interesting arpeggio generators which can build on each other. Lay down some chords, turn them into arpeggios, then select the notes and apply another arpeggio. A lot of fun. Also, laying down chords is made pretty easy by clicking and using the chord selector.

Hmm can't seem to get it to recognise my midi in - I see it connected and notes entered manually make a sound but I can't actually play using my keyboard.

I wasn't even sure that there was a midi input as there is no configuration for it. Let me try.

I'm not seeing any midi input either. I also don't see a record button.

There is a midi input in the modular view - it's just not doing anything

But then without record it's pointless I suppose - I guess that's what's still incomplete

I didn't even see that because I hadn't instantiated any plugins. Definitely a work in progress there. Some instruments don't show their U/I when double clicked, some do. Helm doesn't show a midi input. Double clicking on midi doesn't seem to do anything.

Disconnecting the midi input from the plugin causes the layers assigned to that plugin to stop playing. So, for the moment, midi in means midi in from the layers assigned.

I like where this is going, but there's a long way to go.

I normally record or at least "pre-listen" everything from MIDI keyboard instead of mousing it in, so this type of composing method feels fresh to me, and sort of forces to think more than work out the lines by jamming. So I don't really mind the (current?) lack of recording tbh.

I find the root note denotion weird, but doesn't matter much.

I've never composed anything using a mouse so this is disappointing but hopefully they will address it.
