Any of you guys got the sp 404?

Post

I use both the SP-404 OG and SP-404 SX samplers for music production.

I'm also a big fan of the SP 303 which is an absolute gem of a sampler and definitely looking to add one to my set up at some stage in the future .

I also have a Roland SP-808 thats in need of repairs at the moment which I'm working on, the main issue is replacing the problematic Zip Drive as they're prone to crashing and the dreaded 'disk read error' message appearing on the screen.

I'm trying to source a card reader from the blue colour version of the Akai MPC 2000 XL which can be swooped with the Zip Drive as they have the same 40 pin header connection...i know a few people who have done this with their SP-808s and they've had no problems with the machines whatsoever since converting them to the Akai card reader for sample storage and playback .

Just the 404A. Only had it for a week but it's exactly what I was searching for. Portable, simple (to a degree) and samples easily on the go. Still a long way off figuring out how to best use it.

Probably obvious but the only real advice I can offer is to study the manual as much as possible. There's a whole host of cool stuff you can use to push the limits of what the 404 can do.

The key feature for me is the resampling capabilities of the SP's which really offers the best use out of these samplers for me personally.
