This is my favorite kind of software update. Not tons of headline grabbing half-working features, but lots of workflow-enhancing, time-saving additions. The Melodyne integration feels as smooth as it does in any other ARA friendly DAW and the file browser improvements make auditioning sounds and samples even better. I'm running Windows 10 and I'm not sure why but for whatever reason I'm getting better CPU performance in 8 than I did in 7 or even version 6. Little things like having plugin FX panels on each track in the arrange view, full effect PDC, and VST3 support are of course very welcome and will no doubt entice those out there who have been on the fence about trying it. In the end, Mixcraft still feels like an old school DAW but in the best way possible. Its not overly cluttered or bloated but still feels like a full featured and at this point, quite powerful piece of production software. Nice job Acoustica

Not so impressed by the new instruments and effects, most seem to come from 123creative.com, being only 32 bit Synthmaker creations:
EU PromixEQ-10A mastering EQ,
G-Sonique DTC-1, compressor
Epralux ORB7000 Octave Reverb.
Extra in Pro:
-Kastelheimer Veldberg XD virtual synth,
-8-Out version of the Omni Sampler
-Celemony’s Melodyne

Purchased this upgrade and gave it a little test last night. The workflow is mostly the same as 7 at first glance(unsurprisingly), that is to say: pretty much in my comfort zone for loops and simple recording, would rather use a tracker for sequences, probably too stripped down for a larger recording session. The plugins are probably mostly trash, as has been the tradition with Acoustica bundled plugs, but they occasionally stumble into a good one, so I can never dismiss it entirely.
I'm most interested in the new routing options, which do quite a lot to round out the mixing functionality of the program.

Wondering if I should get the upgrade, it is only 29 dollars.
I agree that the included plugins are trashy. Even their own effects plugins sound poor compared to budget third-party stuff like TB.
I suppose they only included the bridge so they can continue to bundle those outdated plugins.
They should offer a lite version, i.e. the DAW as such without any synth and effect plugins, samples and loops. Or at least the possibility of unchecking that stuff during installation. I don't want any G-Sonique stuff etc. on my computer.
Do plugin windows still not offer the possibility of saving presets in fxp format in user folders? I dislike their proprietary format and paths. It ties you to the DAW when plugins don't have built-in patch managers.

Yeah on the site they simply call it "melodyne integration" but it does use Melodynes ARA technology to integrate it. This is taken from Celemony's website ...Kalamata Kid wrote:ARA support for Melodyne 4?
I do not see ARA mentioned.
ARA is supported by all editions of Melodyne 4 and is continually being further developed. The latest version, Melodyne 4.1, for example, extends the possibilities regarding the simultaneous editing of multiple tracks and simplifies comping in the DAW in important respects. On the DAW side, ARA is currently supported by Presonus Studio One, Cakewalk Sonar, Magix Samplitude Pro, Acoustica Mixcraft and Tracktion. Another plug-in that employs ARA is Vocalign from Synchro Arts.

I know that Sonar had announced full ARA implementation. I assume or should I assume that SI has total ARA implementation. Samplitude I had read a month ago that the ARA in not fully implemented. Would be great to know how well ARA is implementation in Acoustica Mixcraft and Tracktion.jjpscott01 wrote:Yeah on the site they simply call it "melodyne integration" but it does use Melodynes ARA technology to integrate it. I visited Vocalign But could find mention of ARA. http://www.synchroarts.com/products/voc ... o/overview
I am still searching for a main DAW and ARA implementation is a very important feature for me. But it has to fully implemented! Would love to see Cubase and FL Studio adopt ARA.

Mixcraft was near the bottom of my possible contenders for Main DAW list
Moved it above Mulab and Bitwig.
But it will move down again if the ARA is not fully implemented.

Why don't you ask on the Acoustica forum? Lots of helpful insiders there

Sorry for being off topic. Toneboosters plugins are budget but also really high quality stuff. Just in case anybody is reading and gets the impression that they are "cheap".fluffy_little_something wrote:Even their own effects plugins sound poor compared to budget third-party stuff like TB.

Good idea!fluffy_little_something wrote:Why don't you ask on the Acoustica forum? Lots of helpful insiders there
But my interest in Mixcraft is not that high.
OT
Secondly I do not understand why the marketing people have not grasped the idea that consumers love information so why not give it to them?
TV, what is the resolution? Why not state it?
The end of a sale. why not state the date?
Our plugin has full ARA implementation. Why not state it?
Oh,well. Just venting!

The Toneboosters plugins are a top shelf, first class treat...
Coded by a very smart guy - well versed in high level DSP applications...
They are the definitive bargain in the plugin world....
Very useful tools indeed
No auto tune...

I'm not sure I understand what "not full implemention" of ARA looks or feels like but I've been using Melodyne for a week now in Mixcraft 8 and its identical to the way that Studio one 3 has it integrated. It actually probably feels the smoothest of the bunch(I also use it in Sonar and Tracktion as well). You simply click on any audio part and there is a button right there on your edit window that says "edit in Melodyne". Done... It syncs to timeline in your arrange window automatically and you can do all of your edits right there real time. Its really quick and thus far I've not had any crashes or hickups.
