Changing scale & fixing progressions

Hi,

I'm relatively new to RC and very new to music theory. I asked RC to create two tracks of 8 bars using the melody generator. The scale was originally set to C Major with a chord progression of: I-IV-V-I-V-IV-I-I. I want to now experiment with different scales. Some scales cause the chord progression numbers to turn red, which I assume means there is a mismatch between the settings and the pitches in the phrase. How can I correct this mismatch? Splitting the phrase into bars and transposing does not solve the issue. I think I need to change the interval between some notes, but I'm not sure which ones.

Right, the reason is that some chords cannot be matched to the new scale. This is not necessarily bad when using borrowed chords from other modes, but if you are new to music theory, these red chords are best to avoid.

The easiest solution is to change the scale in the master track inspector, by enabling "Harmonize Chords To Match Scale". That will make changes to the chords to match the scale. E.g. when the new scale is minor, it will convert I to Im.

The best would be to use chord progressions that match the scale. Choose a minor progression for a minor scale, or major progressions for a major scale.
