Hi Folks

I'm usually a Kontakt kinda guy but for the last few months I've been experimenting with Omnisphere's sample import functions, feeding her my own sounds, finding out what works and what doesn't. It's been a fascinating and sometimes quite agonising period of exploration. But it's been worth it.

The fruit of my labour is UNTOPIA - 200 patches and 80 new sound sources that take inspiration from the darkly exotic : Joy Division producer Martin Hannett, Cristobal Tapia de Veer the brilliantly mad composer of TV show Utopia (and others), and Terry Riley's cosmic hippy wigouts. There's a bit of Jon Hassell and Brian Eno's fourth world aesthetic in there too. Add the grubby wonderment that makes Sound Dust, you know, Sound Dusty - and you have an idea of what UNTOPIAis all about.

Expect strange disjointed and alluring voices, grainy strings, finely sculpted noises, organic grit and grime, slurring mellotrons, drunken string machines, bent synths, keyboards amped to 11, low ebbing throbs and a healthy selection of other beatific cathedrals of sound.

Sound sources include...
Roland Juno 60, Oberheim Xpander, Dsi Pro 2, Moog Voyager, Nord Wave, Yamaha TQ5, Technics WSA1, Nord Drum, Hofner Bass, Fender Stratocaster, Fender Mandolin, Plastic Trumpet, Recorder, Whirly Tubes, Modular System including Waldorf NW1, Mutable Instruments Braids and Music Thing Radio Music, two human lady voices, one male voice and uncontrollable robot chatter.

Untopia has triggered a few lightbulb moments for Kontakt based shenanigans too. There are still plenty of other things already in the kontakt queue, but after a suitable period of cogitation (and sweat) something vaguely along these lines may well surface...
