HI All,

I am having a problem using my realtek Soundcard with ableton.

Whenever i arm an audio track and start recording my guitar, the audio channel does not record the guitar only , it actually picks up on all channels playing.as if i am recording from the master channel

So if i have ezdrummer in one channel, and want to record some guitar along with it ,i end up with a recording for both the guitar and the drums.

I do have stereo mix in my sound devices, could this be what is causing the problem?,i tried disabling it but this did not solve the problem.

I should also mentioned that i am using the asio4all plugin,, dont know if this also could be a problem.

I do have a line 6 pod that i use which does not have this problem,it records the audio channels separately. but i dont want to use it and use my integrated sound card.

Any help would be much appreciated

You might have to configure your inputs/outputs.

Open up preferences, choose Audio and then select "Input Config" just below the Audio Output dropdown.

Once this is open, you can see if you have options for selecting individual channels, instead of only showing stereo pairs.

Hope that helps

i have 1/2 stereo and 1 (mono)& (2 mono)

the first restricts recording audio(the record button wont go red if i click it, also clips all have squares,no circles)

The second option picks up the entire project(bounces the whole project if i record)

You should be able to activate both 1/2 stereo and 1 as mono and 2 as mono, meaning you would then have 3 different choices to make for input.

Is the I/O open on the track (Command/Ctrl+I)?

it is active

also if i found out that the stereo mix volume controlls the audio coming into the audio channel,

If its raised the audio channel will get a signal to record if its is muted the channels does not pick up on any audio.

OK i figured it out

it was the input routing for the asio 4all driver

i had the record in set in the asio4forall settings to stereo mix not to my sounds cards mic which is where it should be recording from.
I changed it to my mic and boom its recording only my guitar now
