just a word of warinng for anyone thinking of getting one of these, they are incompatible with ENE BC-1410 cardbus controller which is the one fitted in Clevo machines from Phill Rees and Millenium Music, no mention of it on their web site, I had to find out the hard way :( Also incompatible with Texas Intstruments cardbus apparantly.
Why cant companies be more transparant about this sort of thing?

This may only be partially true. While I can't personally confirm compatibility issues with the Clevo machines, I can verify that the Echo Indigo cardbus audio interfaces work on the Texas Instruments' chipset without issue. This is the chipset that my Dell Inspiron 8200 uses.

yeah, I can only say for certain that the ENE BD-1410 controller is incompatible.

Have you contacted Echo's support ?

I have an ENE 910 card, and they gave me a tool to solve the problem. (some kind of "filter" driver)
The card now works flawlessly.

Give it a try, the tool seemd to be designed for all ENE cards.
