After 5 years my boss has somehow bullied me into producing some more of his angst ridden folky nonsense - I had to give up making music full-stop to get out of it for that long. He unfortunately appears not to have got any better as a singer in the interim period. After some prevarication and evasiveness I've been forced to get the first song more or less done.

He at least managed to record the main acoustic guitar and the vocal on his own this time, and it was even of a moderate quality. All the rest of the stuff (i.e. the important things like electric guitar, backing acoustics, drums, bass, strings, kitchen sink etc) is my doing.
Seems to be about right in terms of balance to me (I can hear what needs to be heard - vocals up a bit?), but who knows?

Sounds an awful lot like The Moody Blues' A Simple Game.
I think it's fine as it is. But it depends on what you were aiming for...
The kitchen sink sounds awesome!

You did a great job with the material you were given! The delay and effects over the jangly guitars, and the mix in general, is super 90's alternative. I would turn the vocals up very slightly though.
"musician."

I liked it, especially the jangly sound, even the vocal I thought was ok, maybe some spots the vocal could come up I'd just automate the gain on those parts. good mix on the bass which I always have trouble with

Thanks for listening all. Definitely needs a bit of vocal tinkering but he seems happy with it so far so I unfortunately haven't been sacked. On to the next dirge, which is some sub Green Day punk wannabe thing. You're in your 40s man!

I did quite recently actually. I'm sure the two things are entirely unrelated.rp314 wrote:
