Hey there
I built a new computer where I installed Cakewalk Sonar Platinum and it would not open at all. It says, "SONARPLT.exe stopped working."  I ran the update- it installed it and shows green in Command Center but it still would not open even after the update. I disabled Antivirus, uninstalled Sonar, downloaded new files and re-installed. The same result- it not able to open .exe file. Very frustrating as I used the best components available. This is new system, no reason for it to do this. All drivers installed. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Windows what?

Post

Windows 10 64 bit with Kaby Lake 7700K and Asus Hero motherboard.

Wondering if some services not running. Cant think of anything else.

Hmm, nice beast you got there, no time to wait for Ryzen??? :)

Anyway, make sure to install most of Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables, perhaps Sonar need those... And hey don't forget to actually reboot the system....

Yeah, I remember back in the day I had issue with some Cakewalk product and tech support told me to reinstall Visual C++. But I have many installed: 2x 2005, 2x2008, 2x 2013 and 2x2015. Is there more?

I found Cakewalk e-mail from 2015. They then recommended to install 2005 through 2013, but my release versions installed are all different- cant tell if it older or newer.

Well, on my system I got the one from 2012 too, and even some from Intel...

From Intel? I don't have 2012, and it was in Cakewalk e-mail. Should I install it from that old link?

And yes, I think that old link is fine....

I installed 2012, and it did not solve it.

Where can I get that Intel C++ you got? Thanks.

Post

Can it have anything to do with my 4K display?

Post

I don't know where to get the Intel one, it came with some app but I don't remember, but google is your friend...

4K display? Hmm, I don't know..

Post

Nope. Changed display back to Full HD- not helping. I don't understand what went wrong. I have Sonar on my other build and it works fine. And their tech support taking their time. They would be like, "Click on "Run as administrator". 24 hours later, "What Windows version do you use?" and so on.
