Time to kill - Advice needed

As per the title, soon I will have some spare time - this is mainly down to me undergoing an operation on my knee and having to take time off work to recover. I see this time as an opportunity to have a crack at producing music like I've always wanted to. The only problem being that I don't know where to start!

The music I'd like to produce is 2-step, house and garage - what program would you recommend for this?
I've played around with Reason and FL in the past but as I say I don't know where to start. I will also need to buy a laptop to run this program on without lagging etc.

I'm thinking of buying something like this:

Would this be suitable?

In short:

- I'm thinking of producing music (2-step, garage, house etc) what program would you recommend?

Id say go with FL over Reason just because Reason is a closed system. In the long run you'll benefit from avoiding Reason and sticking to any daw that can load any vst plugin. In the future you will then be able to bring your plugins with you to other daws or trade/sell plugins (you cant resell or trade rackextensions) And to add to that, most of the hottest plugins are not available in Reason and it's doubtful if they ever will due to restrictions put on rackextensions. I heard they recently added new features such as multipage/tabbed interfaces, but that still means it might be 6-12 months before any of the more advanced synths comes to reason if ever. Spire is the only one I heard about and it was announced years ago, still not released.

Sorry for no UK link, but I know you can find it easily on amazon. This is the laptop I own (the model with the i7, not the i5.) It will hold up a little longer, as well as allow you a bit more leeway in terms of performance (Hyperthreading is great, which the i5 does not have)

i would say you to go with a quad core option like i7 6300hq would be great and for production any daw would be great the only point is that where do you feel most comfortable for me it was reaper over FL for you it can be any thing and if possible try to go with a pc rather than a laptop until you get some expensive laptop from iBuyPower or some other who can fit desktop cpu in laptop
