RC as plugin in Reaper stopped following play cursor

I have this compo going on wich is pretty advanced. I worked on it for a while and so far no problems when loading the session multiple times. Now in the middle of a session RC stopped following the play head in Reaper. It's not moving at all until I turned on local sequence, hit play a little bit from RC, then turn off local sequence and play from Reaper, now it works again.
It's the first time it happens to me.
Any reason for this behavior ?
Thanks.

Longstanding issue for me:
The syncing between Reaper and RC is just not working properly and has never been.
It's a real showstopper for me, making working with RC inside Reaper unuseable.
Latest RC version
Latest Reaper version
Both 64bit.
OSX 10.12.3

Hi Rob,
I did not know about this. So far no-one reported it, and at the moment I cannot imagine how it can happen.
I'll make tests with longer compositions.
Thanks,
Attila

Hi Rob,
thank you, that would help a lot.
Sometimes it is important which sample rate is set, because it affects the number of samples Reaper requests from the plug-in.
Alternatively if you send me a simple Reaper project that would be great.
I remember that I fixed some VST issues with Reaper in v3.2b2. I know that you don't like using the beta version which I understand, but in this case it would be beneficial for both of us if you downloaded the latest beta version v3.2b8 and try to work with that. I had quite a few VST fixes if you check http://www.musicdevelopments.com/beta.xml and look for "v3.2b2". Please rename the old RapidComposer.app so that you don't overwrite it. I'll send you the download links if you don't have them.
Thanks!

Hi,
I just bought the LE version and testing it out as a VSTi.
I'm getting a similar sync issue with Reaper 5.4 using sample Ballad template.
I have the reaper project looped as 8 bars same as RC but it jumps to start at bat 7.5 in RC for some reason.
Very weird and impossible to use basically.
4 tracks in Reaper, 3 for RC and 1 audio to jam with (guitar).
3 RC VSTi inputs go to 1/2/3 respectively as Absynth (strings), Massive (Bass), Battery4 (Drums).
Files attached.
Best,
Paul

Hi Paul,
thank you for including a Reaper project.
Please make sure you highlight 'Use Host Tempo' in the master track inspector:
(It is possible to use a different tempo from the host. I think for new compositions in VST mode this is always set)
Also please set the following setting to "No" (it is the default setting):

OK, I'll try that. ty!
What's the advantages/disadvantages of using it as a VSTi like this vs Standalone and sending via virtual midi cable?

Yes, I think synching is much better when used inside a VST host. The virtual MIDI cable may delay MIDI events, and there is a very small delay after receiving the MIDI Start message to prepare and start playback in RapidComposer. In some host you can compensate for delays on MIDI inputs, so I suppose this depends on the host.
