i'd buy it in a snap, if Michael would just support the 'hard-drive' auth method.

The sound examples are pretty impressive. I especially like the new Plate algorithm. It has something in it that I can't quite describe.. something I was hoping his other reverbs would do but don't.
I'll definitely have to demo it and hear for myself.
@sqigls: The hard drive authorization method is a bit risky though. If the HD fails you lose the license.

R4 is really a fantastic reverb. It takes the great new additions to Nimbus and combines it with the fatter sound that many of us love from R2. Plus we get some new goodies that Nimbus doesn't have. This plugin is worth buying an iLok 3 if you don't have one!
R4 has an additional new hall architecture that's different from the R2 hall, but it only has one plate (inherited from R2). Nimbus does have a new plate in addition to the original from PhoenixVerb. If the plate sounds different to you I'm curious to check it out since I haven't noticed a big difference (yet). Perhaps the algorithm is the same but sounds better with some of the new tweakability in R4.bmanic wrote:I especially like the new Plate algorithm. I really like using the new Hall 2 algorithm and cranking up the density modulation; it does seem to work better when I don't want much audible chorusing. Combine it with the EQ modulation and you can get some nice movement going.

I hope there will be a special update price for customers who own all other plug ins of EA.

I don't know.. it's hard to tell from the audio examples. It's possible that the presets just suited the material very well. But to my ears it sounded different.comfortablynick wrote:![]()

I do like Nimbus very much, so this is great to hear. Looking forward to demoing R4.comfortablynick wrote: R4 is really a fantastic reverb. i had to get the motherboard in my macbook replaced, and accidently overlooked my hard drive licences. I simply contacted each company, and every single company was very helpful.bmanic wrote:The sound examples are pretty impressive. I especially like the new Plate algorithm. It just comes down to, Michael doesn't want to.

Yes, he has stated his position on this many times. He feels the hard drive (or motherboard, I guess) method is not as secure. I'm sure if that changes, he would have no reason not to offer both options. But for now, like I said, IMO Exponential Audio plugins are worth the hassle of using a dongle!sqigls wrote:It just comes down to, Michael doesn't want to.
I don't know how Michael codes these plugins to be so darn efficient. Even with all that's going on in R4, it's barely noticeable to the CPU.

Ditto no offers as yet. Not really expecting naything enticing since a lot of users felt they were burnt on the Nimbus release.
Guess this will be the link to maybe keep an eye on:

+ 1 on this. I would probably buy everything he makes if he did that. Along with Audioease, they are 2 companies that I wish didn't have to use dongles. I don't mind using a hard drive as an auth. method, but can't stand the Usb dongle.sqigls wrote:i'd buy it in a snap, if Michael would just support the 'hard-drive' auth method.

This video goes into more depth on how to use it (I don't think it's been posted here):
