VHL-3C FREE VINTAGE EQUALIZER

Built around a cascade of two constant-K filters the VHL-3C‘s analog counterpart - a sought-after processor from the early 1950s - comprises an entirely passive design with very musical and interactive pass filters. Offering 3 simple and intuitive controls, the VHL-3C allows you to effectively remove rumble, hum or harsh frequencies from your signals. Set both filter knobs to their extreme positions and you‘ll end up with a narrow telephone-line bandpass.

„So what?“, you may wonder - Black Rooster Audio is giving away this goodie for FREE!

FEATURES

AUTHENTIC CIRCUIT EMULATION

Our real time SPICE type component based circuit simulation approach allows to authentically capture the sound and feel of the analog counterpart in all nuances. Every crucial part of the passive filter network including filter stage interaction and the influence of different load resistances have been faithfully modeled.

SSE2 OPTIMIZED CODE

DSP operations are pipelined using the SSE2 instruction set. This ensures highest possible performance operation despite very complex computations.

AUTO-ADJUSTED OVERSAMPLING FOR MAXIMUM AUDIO TRANSPARENCY

Aliasing artifacts are efficiently attenuated using a low latency linear phase Dolph-Chebyshev poly-phase design. The oversampling is auto-adjusted to your session‘s sample rate to save valuable CPU power while offering the most transparent sound possible.

HIGHDPI / RETINA SUPPORT

All our plug-Ins support high pixel density on Mac OSX and Windows to bring you the most enjoyable user experience on high DPI displays. Please refer to your manual to find whether your DAW is HighDPI capable if you‘re working on Windows.

guys i really want to try your products. I have tried two times. would like to possibly purchase. Have even tried to download the free plugins. your licensing method to activate plugins is a nightmare.....at least for me. It never works. Everytime I go to authorize the plugins it never connects to your server so i just don't bother testing your plugins.

+1
Uninstalled the amp already

Strange. I found authorization very quick and simple. Have you already made an account with Black Rooster? It is required for authorization, even for free products such as this. Here's a video for activation:
If issues still persisting, you should contact support. They are very responsive and pleasant individuals, and I'm confident they will get it figured out for you. All things considered, this is a great plugin, sounds awesome and very easy to use. Def worth the extra effort to register an account.
EDIT: I just wanted to mention that although I find the authorization to be quick and simple, the developer is currently working on a simpler authorization system.

I never had any problems with their authorization. Andre and Reimund are really nice guys, please contact them and they will respond and make sure your problem gets solved as quick as possible.

Huh. This is actually more useful than I thought it'd be :D

The HP/LP filtering is *very* aggressive so I've already found some uses for that and there's definitely an interesting contrast between the 500/600 modes.

I really didn't think I'd need another HP/LP filter but well - this one's really nice - thanks!

Now I'm curious about the VEQ-5 (which of course was BRA's evil plan all along...)

Looking forward to seeing some comparisons against other Pultec plugins.

Oh ic. I have not had any issues authorizing/connecting. Have you tried installing and authorizing this current build? also, may be worth resetting your password, as it does appear there was an online activation bug around when you were demoing: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=476451&p=6668873#p6668873 .If still a problem, I would encourage you contact support. As I said, they're very responsive and helpful, and these plugins are def worth getting to work! Also, helps them identify and correct problems with their own authorization system.

Hi Primo,

we appreciate your feedback and accept your criticism and a detailed description of what's going wrong will help to hunt down these issues for good, which will eventually also help other customers.

To everyone that's dubious about our activation system, let me rephrase what we posted in the VEQ-5 thread:

We're actually in the middle of overhauling the entire process so it becomes more intuitive and transparent.

Our current system basically requires you to set up an account and enter your login credentials in the plug-in activation dialog. So it's not like you have to be a rocket scientist in order to set things up.

There's also a challenge/response offline method that requires you to register your device (once!) and then request an activation code via the website.

We'd like to encourage you to watch our activation tutorial, to get an impression of the activation workflow. It's not that hard after all and it doesn't require you to install any additional drivers/software. Feel free to contact us via support any time if you have questions about or issues with the activation process.

This sounds promising. I would love to try out and/or buy one or several of your products, but the activation process has so far kept me from doing so.

Which I just did... However, watching the video alone makes me reluctant to give your products a try at the moment. The whole process, especially the offline activation, seems to be even more complicated than the equivalent process required by other companies with complex activation processes (like Magix for example).

From a marketing standpoint, I do understand you would like people to register before they can actually use your (free) products. However, if people are turned off by the process, this is not likely to get you more customers.

Why not simply send a serial number via e-mail to people once they have registered - at least for the free products? Or simply let people download a fully functioning free product once they have entered their e-mail address?

If buyers are satisfied with a free or demo product, they will happily return for the commercial products.

It's a really weird thing how some people have these registration issues and others don't. I don't. Zero problems. Worked from immediately the first time I tried Cypress (the guitar amp) and had no problems with VHL-3 either.

Would you mind sharing some details of what system you are running? OS X? Windows? What host? .. and where did you install the plugin (could still be a admin rights issue thing). Also do you have some anti-virus installed or firewall that is somehow blocking the connection?

Compare to Plugin Alliance.. do you happen to have any Plugin Alliance plugins installed? Does their method work (it is practically identical to Black Rooster Audio system)? What is different?

Have any Native Instrument plugins? Does their system work for you?

This is a real issue that everybody who is suffering from the problem/bug can be of tremendous help! I guarantee you, it's worth it helping these guys. The plugins are really quite astonishing in my opinion (the freebies are ridiculously generous!).

I have many Plugin Alliance, Slate, Soun Toys, UHE, D16, Valhalla, atomic, Fab Filter, Softube, etc. Never had these issues.

Very interesting. That already gives a lot more clues to the developers I would suspect. Some gremlins in the back end system, the servers? Plugin Alliance method of demo/registration is virtually identical.
