There are some news that SoundCloud in danger of running out of cash. They don't find an investor and they have not enough cash for 2017 and so they need money or a buyer.

ha! screw 'em.

"SoundCloud’s struggle is taking place while there’s renewed investor interest in streaming music."

well i know sc doesnt realize this...but they arent a streaming music site.

ive said it before and ill say it again...sc shot themselves in the foot when they abandoned their original core customers in some idiotic short sighted attempt at becoming a streaming audio service.

soundcloud is (was) a repository for artists, so they had an easy place to share their work...not a source of entertainment where listeners go to stream content. the attempt to switch from the former to the latter was ill conceived and plain old stupid.

I wish all luck for them - just because the more options we have, the better the competition works, and the better services/conditions the user gets.

Soundcloud has been rumoured as "dying" for years now. It's till there, though personally I don't see future for it.

Earlier today I read they plan to introduce some royalty plan for DJ mixes

They've pretty much brought it on themselves. Now maybe Facebook will be smart enough to step up - buy them out and have some decent integration of Soundcloud and Facebook.

The concept "decent integration with the Facebook" is an absurdity.
The only decent integration with the Facebook is a total dis-integration.

Facebook integration of any service =
step to the holistic control and concentration.
I'm for the idea that the end user can control and decide which services/information he/she wants to integrate. Not any 3rd party or company.

(I know, I have already lost the game, but I said "I'm for the idea", and will keep some noise for it)

I couldn't care less if it disappeared as I never liked it. Their embedded player still has no volume control, right? :P
I think it is the fate of big sites that they become less appealing as they grow and sprawl. Same reason many people abandon FB.

Has it's problems, but I still find it handy. I'll sorry to see it go, but there'll always be something else.

Never had a problem integrating it with facebook. As much as I could ever imagine needing it to anyway.
Q. Why is a mouse when it spins?
A. The higher the fewer.

An investor will show up, because SC is still the hub.
Until there is a close competitor, it will remain, because it somehow maintains its "potential" to be something more than it is.

FYI,
hearthis.at has an 'auto-import' feature for your SC profile.... :)
Nevermind. Just realized that it just imports the Soundcloud stream, even if you have downloads enabled. Boo.

Totally agree, v. 1 was brilliant, everything since has been a "WTF?" money grab. It's crazy when companies don't understand what their core competencies or target audience/userbase actually are!

Pretty sure the reason they are in trouble is because they have the most idiotic free to payment setup in history. Not to mention everything on it sounds like it came from the same person.

The best system setup would be allowing for wavs, a pricing setup that tailors to real-world needs, advertising that isn't intrusive (advertising is very important to budget in the cheapskates) and a no-nonsense approach (seems they've pissed their customers off regularly)

But, that's not gonna happen.

Well, it can't just be me. I mean even youtube sounds acceptable.

Examples of a new drum kit? Same. Guitar parts? Same. A new song? Same.

All has that "we've compressed this to sound the same" sameness
