( Edit. Found the tempo master clip feature to automate tempo in ableton. Though I'd be interested if the clock data can be directly recorded in live as it will be less resource intensive plus probably more precise)

Hi,

As the thread title says I've been trying to find a way to record into a DAW the tempo change midi clock data of a external drum machine, which I'm using as master clock. I've been searching if ableton can do this. Ableton has song tempo automation which can be recorded whilst altering the tempo from within the DAW.

The external drum machine is synchronising ableton as a slave, but ableton isn't recording the tempo changes. I would like to record (in automation) the tempo changes of the drum machine so that I can play back the recording whilst synchronising (and recording) an external synthesiser after I've recorded the drum machine.

Many thanks for any technical info on this :-)

Hi,

I'm still looking for a way to record the tempo changes of a drum machine into a DAW. Live master clip feature isn't quite what I want as in order to tempo match it warps any other recordings, which I don't need. In theory recording the tempo change should be straight forward as the hardware clock data is being sent and syncing the DAW. But I haven't found (or been told of) a feature that enables a DAW to use this to automate and record that tempo change for later playback.

Can lives tempo be synced to a midi clip that has a change off tempo?
