They've been very quiet since NAMM. I did read on facebook that they plan a March release, but other than that nothing.

hmmm....seems a little off topic.

I read in the Traktion subforum that a/the(?) lead developer is currently undergoing cancer immunotherapy treatment which has slowed the release.

Post

Yes. Hopefully he has a quick recovery. Cancer has hit all of us at one time or another. It's a terrible thing for all...
I was trying to keep it light, and just focus on the software. Tracktion is one of 3 daws I use, and I'm looking forward to the new version.
Of course the health of the dev is far more important...I'm sure he knows we all agree on that.

I'm quite curious to see what Waveform brings to the table besides the new mixer/MIDI editing/sampler - those aren't actually all that big of a deal to me since I like Tracktion's 'mixerless' workflow and I already use TAL Sampler which is fantastic.

There was mention of the basic plugins getting an overhaul (which was needed but again, not particularly exciting if your bases are covered there).

I've a feeling this release is geared more towards pulling in new users (not necessarily a bad thing).

Yeah, the sampler seems to be the big thing (which I care nothing about). I'm a guitar, bass, and drums guy pretty much. If the upgrade is reasonable I'll get it, but if it's a lot I may go for the new Mixbus 32C V4 instead...or both!

I'm hoping the upgrade will be around $40 although due to the buy-in price going up to $100 they may push the upgrade to $50 - can't see it being more than that since prior upgrades were always $30.

Whether it's worth $50 to me is TBD but I hope it sells well for them - hopefully we'll get more updates this time since the T7 cycle was kind of lacking (although to be fair, T7 was a pretty solid release).

Personally I'm pretty excited about the sampler and midi improvements, which will hopefully make certain processes faster and more fun for me. Also, I'm in the market for a basic effects suite, and if there's a good bundle price for Waveform + DAW Essentials I'll grab it.

So I'm eagerly awaiting release day, too, although truth be told T7 is more than enough for my hobbyist needs anyway, so if the price is too high I'll just keep going with what I've got. If the upgrade + DAW essentials costs me much more than $100, I'll have to think about it.

10 days left of March, so it should be just around the corner. Hang in there Clint! Make another one of those nicely crafted tunes in the meantime.

Hahaha! Thanks skipscada! I'm working on a few...I'm getting lazy.
I agree T7 didn't have many updates, but it was pretty solid, and didn't require much.

T7 was a disappointment for me because video did not work in my setup (win10 64bit). Waveform looked good in the demos but if video is still unstable then I have no interest

Video works in T7 (at least, in Win 8.1 which is what I'm using) but you need to install the K-Lite Codec Pack first:

Alternatively, you can try this:

Thanks aegisprime but none of that works for me. I think quite a few people have similar issues, remembering back to when I tried to get it working
