On a fresh boot, inserting st2 in a project takes about 26.2 sec., is this normal ?
(no patch, 'relist on startup' unchecked)
Then each new instance takes about 5.9 sec.
any hint ?
marc
halion takes about 2.3 sec and vsampler 4.2 sec

Hi mbncp,
My load time is much faster than that...
I imagine other people will ask you about your PC specs....

Thanks 'MickGael',
This gived me an idea, I removed all the Presets, and loading time is less than 3 sec. now
.... but no more presets
Well, I had 600+ presets, but I tried a vbscript that returns all the 600 files in an array, and this takes less than a sec. so ... ???

Marc,
Hey click on PREF and turn OFF Relist at startup IF it IS turned on.
See if this helps.

Hi Jason,
Relist is OFF and 'ST2InstrCache.dat' is only updated when I ask for it.
But as I sayed before, with an empty 'SampleTank 2 Presets' folder, load is less than 3 sec.
Now if I put back the presets in the folder and click 'Refresh List', it's fast as well.
But if I restart my host and start a new instance, I get again the long loading times.
And it's like ST2 rescans all samples, but the cache is not updated.
I have this with both version, dxi and vst, and on two different hosts as well.
sampletank is in folder called 'S:\SampleTank 2' and the sounds are in 'S:\SAMPLETANK'

I don't want to sound rude here, but I'm not really happy about having the choice of a 26 sec loading time or removing all the presets.
Any idea about what the problem could be ?
As soon as I put a preset in the preset folder the loading time is increasing (5 preset is allready an extra 2-3 sec.)
Thanks
Marc

It takes about 20 seconds for me, but I own many expansion ROMs for it.
The thing that bothers me the most is if I go into PREFS (to check a setting), then click Cancel, ST2 does something that causes my machine to clock for about 30 seconds. That is far more annoying for me, as there doesn't seem to be any reason for it to do any work when responding to a Cancel command.
The loading upon insert waiting period I can tolerate, though.

The problem for me is, any sound I try to load initially takes about 5-10 times longer than if it's loaded any subsequent time, very frustrating and it's a fairly new occuence, it used load normally...
