Autotune preference.

I am listening to a record I like very much. The singer is great! Like all humans he wavers in pitch ending words. Autotune turns this into small warble. Well done but not natural.

I ask if you would like a well done autotune voice or a natural good, but out of tune a bit, voice?

I prefer natural Some of the best songs have singers with no tune at all! Many very bad songs have perfect pitch, but you can not listen to them with any excitement.

Here in Japan, there are many 'super-commercialized' boy bands and girl groups. It has become a painful, almost unendurable practice here to use autotune on these people. Of course, I imagine the reason for it is obvious - they're all cute as hell but can't really sing properly. "Image" is what counts for record sales, and record sales drive what is given the top airplay.

I love my automation, but I use it to 'enhance' the human part of the creation. Take that human element and natural expression (soul) away - imperfect as it might be - and we might as well just listen to robots with Rhythm Aces..
