I probably work a lot differently to most of you. I am not song-oriented. I have had some success with series of pieces in which I set rules - not necessarily arbitrary and certainly realistic - for any number of pieces during a certain period of time. (Basically from an idea from Eno.)

It freed me up; the strictures gave me clear aims. I was also more productive during that period, loosely grouped under the theme "Music for Imaginary Monster Movies".

So, new rules:
Nothing over 2 minutes.
No samples.
No pre-mix FX.
Every piece must include the human voice, even if it's not my own.

It won't break my heart if I break the rules. And it's a process. This is probably a stupid idea, but it's an idea.

this can always be good. sit in the place. make the sound. then, you get to listen. because that's the great thing forever in eternity, to sit and monitor the speakers, so we know the record. then, after world war two, everybody will think whatever we want them to!
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

It's not a stupid idea. Do what works for you to be productive. Not everyone's creativity or productivity works the same way. Mine, for example, is not melody or tune-oriented. It is sound-oriented. When i stopped finding sounds interesting, my ability to start music really crashed. I'm still working at finding my way again. I think there was some brain damage, so it's not like I'm going to recapture what i had.

I guess that is why Throbbing Gristle made Discipline
