I was listening to the background music at a Vietnamese restaraunt and noticed it was a Vietnamese version of Canto-pop. A fruity male/female duet with syrupy ultra-polished synths - it wasn't unpleasant. No way to check the performers.

And then, at the end of the song, there was an electric guitar/synth lead-out that was, again, sugary, hyper-polished but wonderfully done, super-professional and absolutely hypnotic. It was f**cking incredible.

So now I am off on a search to relive that experience. Any direction would be helpful, but I'm gonna listen to a lot of Viet-pop anyway.

If only YouTube wasn't acting up...

i was impressed by the production of lynda trang dai records in the 80s.. tommy ngo the producer, you'll see the name on youtube and many duets of the two. lots of covers and bilingual songs, function to help people learn the language, so the whole thing is very well taken care of. global network. so you'll also be digging thru a million covers of top 40 in vietnamese.. eg. the final countdown...

it's like i say: no one beats a vietnamese doctor on an airplane - the doctor lets you beat him because a few cuts are better than an airplane full of dead guys. :)
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.
