Who won't survive the purge?

Probably not positive grid. I find their account management way too annoying and dysfunctional and I'm not finding their plugins to be worth the hassle.
It's time for the quasi-annual post sale season plugin purge. Some will make the cut, some will go the way of the dodo. Who's on your purge list? I like useful discussions, so, instead of just making this a shit-list, let's also chat about what will replace it for you.
For me, the PG EQs that are free today aren't really anything special over what I already have with Waves. For guitar stuff, I prefer much simpler individual plugins over complex attempts to copy the pedal board concept. I don't need special "pedal" eqs or compressors, I already have useful plugins that do that job.
Positive Grid probably won't be the only victim, but they are on the top of my list right now.

Pretty much. That's appropriate here, no? Get ready for the summer, get rid of the extra fat and all that.

But we want fat synths, not thin ones
Seriously, except for prices, I fail to see any connection between plugins and any time of the year

Ok, well, perhaps, but I'm just talking about picking the spring as a symbolic time to do the annual purge.fluffy_little_something wrote:But we want fat synths, not thin ones![]()

The point isn't really about the time of year, just what plugins that you are getting rid of or have purged in the past and why.

I see.
I have so little stuff already. Any more purging and I don't have anything left

So you have already purged, or, you're just cheap?fluffy_little_something wrote:I see.

Never suffered from GAS, so there never was much to purge in the first place.
Yes, I am cheap

Well, to be clear here though, my number one purge target at the moment was totally free. In fact, I suspect that most of the things that I'll be purging were free.fluffy_little_something wrote:Never suffered from GAS, so there never was much to purge in the first place.

I'd use some hardware cleanup. I have some more or less broken vintage toys, that are just cluttering the room... 80's Hohner Drum Machine, which I should get repaired for the hum first... Analog/pcm Technics toy, which I probably never get repaired... Maybe CZ3000...

Is it a Hohner Drum Performer, aka, the german LinnDrum? Well, if not, here's a cool video that may, or may not, make you want one.

I purged myself of the compulsion to collect freeware. It was facilitated by leaving Windows for a Mac and by my Receptor's power supply dying. But this was done years ago by this point.

No, it's a suitcase analog one. Like this one:ghettosynth wrote:Is it a Hohner Drum Performer, aka, the german LinnDrum?

Ah, well, I'd say that's not quite as cool, but, I have a few of that style of drum machine myself and I'll let go of other things first. Nothing in a suitcase though, so that is cool enough.Zombie Queen wrote:No, it's a suitcase analog one. Like this one:ghettosynth wrote:Is it a Hohner Drum Performer, aka, the german LinnDrum?
The hum problem is almost certainly trivial to fix though. That doesn't mean that it will be cheap because it still has to be taken apart and the soldering iron has to be turned on.
If I had one, I'd fix it.
I have one of these, although it has yet to make it onto a record. Soon!
