MIDI remote mapping troubles in reason

ok I'm not sure if reason is exactly considered a host but this seems the most appropriate place to ask. I use an evolution mk-361c midi controller keyboard, and previously had no trouble assigning the knobs to different stuff in reason. but about a month or 2 ago I reformatted my drive and re-installed everything, now when I check the "learn from MIDI input" tab it has no effect. doing this by changing the codes on the keyboard itself is time consuming and only really works on one instrument at a time. this is really bugging the hell out of me. has anybody run into this before? is there anything I might be missing?
